Crescent Creek Family Outing: July 2018

We had a wonderful week long adventure on Crescent Creek. We spent a few days searching with the metal detector and a few days running material with my Gold Fox USA Mad Monster. We enjoyed being in the wilderness with no cell phone reception. Camp fires, family walks, family detecting, family mining and just relaxing was the only thing on our agenda. I couldn't ask for a better vacation.

WRONG TRAIL/SHORT CUT: JUNE 3RD 2018

We had a fairly adventurous time this weekend. We scanned google maps and found an EASIER way though the mountains. We decided to take a road a mile or so in and then we would jump on a trial to for the last half mile. LOL We thought we had it figured out. After we determined that we were not free climbing the cliffs and embankments for the last half mile, we went back to our trucks and took the normal trail in. We eventually made it to the creek and did minimal prospecting because we were a little tired and had a 2.5 mile hike back to the trucks. All-in-all it was a good time. And guess what, this fat guy was tired after tromping 8 miles through the mountains. We have determined that our short cut was not so short. I did attach a few pictures for you to check out. It was a perfect day for weather, but my feet did not appreciate the 8 miles. Stay tuned for the next adventure or "short cut".

Crescent Creek With my Brother, Niece, Nephew, and Son: May 26th, 2018

My son and I took my brother, niece and nephew up to Crescent Creek today. We had a blast. We started out test panning to find a good location to set up and then got to work. I think I need to take these guys with me more often. They moved a lot of material and didn't get tired. I had a great time with them today and can't wait to do it again.

Bertha Creek Group Dig: May 20th, 2018

We are loaded up for the group dig and getting ready top head out the door. We spent a bit of time test panning when we got there. Once we picked our magic spot, we started setting up. Everyone had a good time. We won't be retiring anytime soon, but WE FOUND GOLD!!! Stay tuned for our next adventure.

Outdoor Show Soldotna Alaska: 27-29 April, 2018

We just participated in our first outdoor show on the Kenai Peninsula. We started out setting up while it was snowing and finished the show with a beautiful sunny day. We met hundreds of people, discussed prospecting and mining techniques, told some tall tales, and sold some merchandise. It was an amazing experience meeting so many gold enthusiasts. Thanks for your support Kenai Peninsula.

Crescent Creek: April 22nd, 2018

We started the 2018 mining season on the 22nd of April. Chris, Tyler and Dil decided to get out and play in the cold water. We wanted to try out the new 6" Mad Monster by Gold Fox USA. The trommel barrel on this unit is 6" x 30" and the sluice is 65" x 10" x 4". The hopper is 16" x 16" x 8". This unit has has a dredge through adapter built into the side of it right before the trommel, but we did not use it this time. The three of us fed about 3 yards of material through the unit as fast as we could with 5 gallon pails and we couldn't keep up with the machine. We are extremely satisfied with this purchase. Oh yeah, we found a little gold, enjoyed each others company, and soaked in the warm Alaskan weather. Enjoy the pictures and stayed posted for our next adventure.
